Raijin

The Raijin (God of Lightning) is a madougu created by the Hokage ninja Kaima, roughly 400 years before the present day (the present day in the Flame of Recca timeline, which is set somewhere in the late 1990's). The word madogu roughly translates to "magical tool" or "evil tool" (I think it depends on which context you want to take it, because Koku's creations have evil counterparts that were created by Kaima), but they are commonly known as "elemental weapons" or "psychic devices" in the English dubs. The Raijin's "good" counterpart is the Fuujin (God of Wind), wielded by Fuuko Kirisawa, which controls the element of wind.

As its name suggests, the Raijin enables its user to manipulate lightning/electricity. Raiha is shown wielding the Raijin only twice throughout the Flame of Recca manga: once to save Fuuko's life, and the next to fight her.

Appearance

The Raijin is a sort of bracelet/armguard, but is very spider-like in appearance; having multiple leg-like extensions that wrap around the wielder's hand and arm. The two large extensions merge and form a long vine-like appendage that has a sharp tip, which embeds itself in its wielder's neck (the reason for this is explained below). It has several small orbs on it, surrounding an almond-shaped orb in the center.

Madougu with Souls

The Fuujin has been described as a "madougu with a soul", and the Raijin is no different. Though generally appearing as bracelets with small orbs with a large orb at the center, the Raijin's and Fuujin's "true form" appear as otherworldly creatures. While the Fuujin's "true form" manifests itself as a creature that looks small and cute, the Raijin manifests itself as a larger, more menacing being that claims to be the strongest madougu in creation.

Raiha never allowed the Raijin to show its "true form" up until his fight against Fuuko. Raijin had been sealed off for hundreds of years prior to this, and during those years it has had no owner apart from Raiha. This is most likely because of its malicious nature and devastating power.

A Tool that Uses its Master

The Raijin is a formidable weapon, but its power comes at a price: the Raijin must consume its user's life force in order to execute its attacks. The long appendage pierces through its user's neck (right above the collarbone) and makes its way into the user's brain, placing him/her under Raijin's control.
